Christmas-themed pop-up takes over Courtesy Bar
The Courtesy Bar has transformed into Miracle on Orange, with twinkle lights, Christmas pine garland, and more decking the halls.
This is the second time the downtown Orlando bar has hosted Miracle on Orange, a concept started in New York in 2014 by bartender and entrepreneur Greg Boehm. At the time, Boehm stopped construction at his East Village cocktail bar to transform it into a festive pop-up bar serving holiday-themed drinks.
Until Dec. 24, Courtesy will feature the Christmas decor along with nightly Christmas movies and, of course, specialty cocktails.
On a recent visit, we sipped on a rum cocktail with an (expected) bite, the Yippie Ki Yay Mother F--and a more creamy-mellow Ginger Flip.
My favorite — And a Partridge in a Pear Tree — had the requisite lengthy list of ingredients: Reposado tequila, pear brandy, spiced brown sugar, lime, egg white, club soda, angostura bitters and cinnamon.
Through the magic of Christmas (and skilled bartenders) the mix of ingredients created a fruity, but not-too-sweet drink.
Tasty cocktails aside, the glassware by Cocktail Kingdom is a good reason to visit Miracle on Orange. The Yippie Ki Yay was sipped from a mug shaped like the bottom half of good ol’ Santa Claus, while the Ginger Flip and Partridge were featured in more old school Christmas glasses.
Check out Miracle on Orange at 114 N. Orange Ave. in Orlando. The bar is open 7 p.m.-2 a.m. Monday, 5 p.m.-2 a.m. TuesdayFriday, 7 p.m.- 2 a.m. Saturday and 3 p.m.-2 a.m. Sunday.
