Orlando restaurant named one of Yelp’s Top 100 Places to Eat

- By Lauren Delgado

An Orlando restaurant was included in Yelp's Top 100 Places to Eat list for 2019.

Mee Thai Restaurant opened at 1200 Lee Road in Orlando in 2017. As the name suggests, the restaurant serves classic Thai fare with an emphasis on the cuisine of Thailand’s northern Isan region. To come up with its top 100 list, Yelp considers restaurant’s ratings on the website as well as the volume of reviews.

Curiosity piqued, I had to visit this petite green restaurant on the corner of Lee Road and Kingswood Drive.

Don’t be afraid to try one of the dishes northern Thailand is known for — scooped up with a pinch of sticky rice, of course. The addicting papaya salad cools as much as it burns. Or go for the tart minced meat (you pick: chicken, pork or beef ) called laab.

Of course, some more mainstream dishes such as Thai curries, pad Thai and Tom Yum soup are available as well.

While I can’t say that Mee Thai’s fare stood out among Central Florida’s other Thai offerings, the service was excellent and the prices seemed reasonable (particularly for lunch).

Mee Thai is one of nine Florida restaurants on the list. The other eateries include Yardie Spice in Homestead, Cafe Club by les artistes in Hollywood, Franky's Deli Warehouse in Hialeah, Amy's French Bakery & Bistro in Pompano Beach, Alamo Restaurant in Hialeah, J28 Sandwich Bar in Hollywood, Inkanto Peruvian Cuisine in Fort Lauderdale, Rejoice Café in Tamarac.
