Disney World, Universal visitors faint on rides, state report says

Two Universal visitors fainted while riding Fast & Furious — Supercharg­ed this spring while another person lost consciousn­ess on Disney’s Flight of Passage that simulates soaring through the air, according to a state report released Wednesday.

Every quarter, Florida’s largest theme parks are required to disclose health problems on rides if visitors were hospitaliz­ed for at least 24 hours. It’s part of an agreement the parks made to avoid state inspection­s.

The report, which covered April to June at the parks, does not mention any injuries at Volcano Bay.

On June 2, several visitors and employees reported feeling electrical shocks at Volcano Bay, a Universal water park. It closed early for the day. The Occupation­al Safety and Health Administra­tion is happened.

According to Wednesday’s report, a 76-year-old woman with a reported “pre-existing condition” fainted and felt chest pain on Fast & Furious April 24. A few investigat­ing what months later, on June 6, a 67-year-old woman fainted on the same ride.

Fast & Furious opened last year at Universal Studios Florida and takes passengers on a simulated car chase.

On May 7, a 34-year-old woman temporaril­y lost consciousn­ess while riding Flight of Passage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

The report detailed a total of 15 incidents primarily at Universal and Disney.

Three Epcot guests were hospitaliz­ed, the report said.

A 69-year-old woman fell and fractured her hip getting into The Seas with Nemo & Friends, and a 72-year-old woman passed out while leaving Spaceship Earth. A 64-year-old man with a reported “pre-existing condition” felt ill after riding Test Track.

At SeaWorld Orlando, a 28-year-old woman felt ill after riding Mako, a roller coaster that travels up to 73 mph.
