Red Sox: J.D. Martinez homered and drove in four runs in a 9-4 victory over the Rays. Eduardo Rodriguez (12-4) allowed two hits over seven scoreless innings to win his sixth straight decision. He limited the sputtering Rays to a pair of infield singles and four walks. Nathan Eovaldi returned from a threemonth stint on the IL and labored through two-thirds of an inning, losing the shutout on Travis d'Arnaud's RBI double. Austin Meadows also doubled home a run, and Yandy Diaz added an RBI single. The Rays have dropped six of seven.

Astros: Gerrit Cole struck out 11 in seven innings to lead an 11-1 rout of the A’s. Cole (11-5) gave up one run on two hits and a walk. Aledmys Diaz hit a three-run homer, and Yuli Gurriel went 3-for-3 with a two-run homer.

Indians: Mike Clevinger pitched seven innings to win his third straight decision, Oscar Mercado homered and tripled and the surging Indians beat the Blue Jays 7-3. Francisco Lindor drove in two runs and Jason Kipnis had two hits and scored twice for the Indians, who are a major-league-best 29-11 since June 4. Clevinger (4-2) allowed three runs on five hits, striking out seven. The right-hander is 3-0 with a 1.88 ERA in four July starts.

Twins: The Twins turned a triple play for the first time in more than two years , squelching a firstinnin­g rally in the series opener against the Yankees. After DJ LeMahieu and Aaron Judge walked, Edwin Encarnacio­n hit a sharp grounder to 3B Luis Arraez, who stepped on the bag and whipped the ball to 2B Jonathan Schoop in the same motion. The relay to 1B Miguel Sano beat Encarnacio­n by a step.

Angels: Pitcher Tyler Skaggs was remembered at a memorial service in Santa Monica, Calif., as a beloved son, husband, teammate and friend whose upbeat personalit­y brought joy to everyone around him. Skaggs’ teammates and family gathered at a Catholic church on Monday to remember Skaggs, who was found dead in his hotel room in Texas on July 1.

Brewers: All-Star pitcher Brandon Woodruff could miss up to six weeks with a left oblique strain, manager Craig Counsell said. The right-hander allowed four runs in three innings against Arizona on Sunday before exiting after throwing two pitches in the fourth. Woodruff (11-3, 3.75) has been the most effective starter for the Brewers and leads the team in victories, innings pitched (1172⁄3), and strikeouts (136). Extra innings: Nationals INF Ryan Zimmerman was put on the IL because of plantar fasciitis in his right foot, the second time this season the injury has sidelined him ... The Rangers placed closer Shawn Kelley on the IL with biceps soreness in his right arm, but manager Chris Woodward said the injury appears far less severe than first believed . ... Righthande­r Edwin Jackson agreed to a minor-league contract with the Tigers . ... The Pirates suspended reliever Keone Kela two games for an unspecifie­d violation of his contract.
