“It appeared as if a struggle occurred outside of the vehicle,” the report said.

Revels admitted to investigators that he knew Johnson and had bought drugs from him many times, including on Saturday, when Johnson came to Revels’ Jessup Avenue home to sell him about $60 of cocaine at about 2 a.m. — just 30 minutes before Johnson’s body was found.

Revels claimed he met Johnson in his driveway and made the purchase, but said Johnson never left the vehicle, and he had no further contact with him, the report said.

However, when investigators questioned Revels on Sunday, they noticed he had scratches on his arms, back, torso and face, as well as a busted lower lip. Revels’ roommates told investigators that the injuries were new since Johnson’s death, the report said.

Investigators said they also found Johnson’s bracelet and dreadlocks on Revels’ driveway.

A bloodied pair of Revels’ socks were also found in his bathroom, as well as a pair of bloodied sandals in Revels’ bedroom, which were a size 9, unlike the rest of Revels’ shoes, which were size 12 or 13. Investigators noted that Johnson’s body was found without shoes.

His ex-girlfriend identified the bloody sandals as the ones Johnson had been wearing before his death, the report said.

Johnson’s ex-girlfriend, who is also the mother of his child, said she had been in touch with Johnson just before the cocaine sale but became worried when he stopped responding to her early Saturday, which prompted her to track down the iPhone that was with him in the vehicle, the report said.

Detectives used GPS data from the iPhone to determine where Johnson had traveled before his death. They found the car, which he’d borrowed from his ex-girlfriend, had been at Revels’ address about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, about 15 minutes before it pinged at the intersection where his body was found.

Revels was arrested on second-degree murder charges.
