GrowthSpotter wins EPPY award
Orlando Sentinel Media Group’s GrowthSpotter took home an EPPY award this week, being named the Best Business/Finance Website under 1 million unique monthly visitors.
It’s GrowthSpotter’s third EPPY award since the website’s 2015 inception.
A premium subscription service that covers early-stage development in Central Florida, GrowthSpotter was also the award recipient in 2015 and 2017.
With a six-person team that includes editor Laura Kinsler, full-time reporter Amanda Rabines and four freelancers, the website covers development in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake and Polk counties, publishing online articles and a weekday newsletter that goes out to subscribers.
“It is quite an accomplishment for GrowthSpotter to win an EPPY award, as the competition is stiff from all websites across the country,” said Julie Anderson, editor-in-chief of the Orlando Sentinel and Sun
Sentinel and GrowthSpotter founder.
“The team, led by editor Laura Kinsler, stays focused on delivering insightful and exclusive development news across Central Florida, and that’s its winning formula,” Anderson said.
For this year’s round of EPPY awards, there were more than 300 entries competing in 30 categories.
Kinsler called this year a transitional one, it being her first as editor. The publication has hired new writers and redesigned its website to make it more interactive and visually appealing for subscribers, she said. “We are extremely proud to be recognized by Editor & Publisher for our coverage of Central Florida’s dynamic real estate market,” Kinsler said. “We are carrying on a tradition of excellence that was set by Julie Anderson when she founded the site in 2015.”
