UCF fired up fans with a creative social media blast Wednesday.

The Knights released a sleek video and digital article showcasing new space-themed uniforms for UCF’s space game against Houston Nov. 2.

Paired with crackling video of President John F. Kennedy’s speech vowing Americans would go to the moon, the school showcased a specialty moon-pattern helmet with dark and light sides etched behind the traditional UCF logo. Each helmet was handpainted by Schutt Sports and includes the phrase, “the dream comes true.”

The helmets also feature the 321 area code on the front that covers the nearby Space Coast, home to Kennedy Space Center. The back of the helmets include the iconic phrase, “One small step for man.”

While space uniforms previously were black, this season UCF went with white jerseys and pants featuring constellation accents and the school’s classic Citronaut logo.

The constellations represented on the uniform include Orion, the road that surrounds Spectrum Stadium; Taurus, which represents Orion’s conquered opponent; and Pegasus, a mythical creature typically on UCF uniforms.

The word USA is marked in red on the Nike pants, matching the text and font featured on the side of the Apollo 11 rocket.

UCF unveiled new space-theme merchandise fans can purchase at ShopUCFKnights.com or by visiting the UCF Bookstore. The school stated the space merchandise is limited and typically sells out quickly.
