practices after a second leave of absence this season, where he was away from the team for the losses to FIU and Duke. He also missed the Oct. 26 game at Pitt.

After Martell wasn’t named the starter ahead of the opener against Florida, he made a move to receiver and later returned full-time to the quarterback room when Williams dealt with his shoulder injury. Martell has not thrown or caught a pass this season and has run for 2 yards on two carries, seeing action in Wildcat packages.

On the season, Williams has completed 62.5% of passes for 2,093 yards, 19 touchdowns and six interceptions. Perry has completed 54.8% for 993 yards, eight touchdowns and two interceptions.

Diaz was asked of the possibility of playing multiple quarterbacks against Louisiana Tech on Thursday.

“All that will be earned by their performance [at Tuesday’s practice],” he said, “and we’ll put our plan together on what gives us the best chance to win on Thursday.”

Louisiana Tech, during its press conference on Tuesday, indicated that the Bulldogs are more focused in on Williams and Perry, with safety Darryl Lewis saying “5 and 15,” the jersey numbers of Perry and Williams, respectively are the quarterbacks they have studied. La. Tech, which went 9-3 this season coming out of Conference USA, will prepare the same way for either signal caller.

“I think when you look at the skill set, many of the [Miami] quarterbacks have the same skill set,” Louisiana Tech coach Skip Holtz said.

“I think what really presents major problems is when you have a drop-back passer that has the arm to throw it all over the yard, and the next guy is the athlete that’s going to run option. The offense is the same. The skill set’s the same. They’re both very, very talented players. They have both played. So, for us, we have to do what we do. Sometimes you can drive yourself crazy trying to prepare yourself for what the opponent’s going to do. Control what you can control.”
