Kenin ends Coco’s run at Aussie Open

Sofia Kenin stopped teenager Coco Gauff’s latest Grand Slam run by beating her 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-0 in the Australian Open’s fourth round Sunday in Melbourne.

Like the 15-year-old Gauff, Kenin is a young — although, at 21, not quite as young — American and she reached her first major quarterfin­al with the victory.

“I want to show who I am, show my best tennis, show why I’m there, why I belong,” the No. 14 seed Kenin said. “I’m doing that.”

In her previous match, the 67th-ranked Gauff beat No. 3 seed Naomi Osaka to become the youngest player in the profession­al era to defeat the reigning women’s champion at the Australian Open.

Auto racing:

Wayne Taylor Racing won the Rolex 24 at Daytona Internatio­nal Speedway in Daytona, Fla. It was the team’s second straight Rolex victory.

Figure skating:

Nathan Chen claimed his fourth straight title at the U.S. championsh­ips in Greensboro, N.C. Chen, 20, tied nine other men with at least four in a row.

Golf:

Aussie Lucas Herbert beat Christiaan Bezuidenho­ut of South Africa on the second hole of a playoff to win the Dubai

Desert Classic. Herbert, 24, shot a finalround 4-under 68 to finished regulation tied with Bezuidenho­ut (68) at 9-under 279 to claim his first European Tour title . ... Madelene Sagstrom of Sweden shot a final-round 2-under 70 to secure a onestroke victory at the LPGA at Boca Rio in Boca Raton, Fla. It was the first career LPGA title for the 27-year-old Sagstrom, who finished at 17-under 271.

NFL:

Steelers LB T.J. Watt returned a fumble 82 yards in the fourth quarter to help the AFC beat the NFC 38-27 in the Pro Bowl in Orlando, Fla. It was the fourth straight victory for the AFC.

Soccer:

Nacho Fernandez scored in the 78th minute to lift Real Madrid to a 1-0 win over host Valladolid and into sole possesion of first place in the La Liga standings. Real holds a three-point lead over two-time defending champ Barcelona, which fell to Valencia on Saturday . ... Premier League leader Liverpool squandered a two-goal lead and settled for a 2-2 draw against third-tier and host Shrewsbury in a FA Cup fourth-round match.
