Disney merchandise salutes the ’70s, villains

Retro collection features bright yellows, oranges, reds

- By Dewayne Bevil

Disney is introducing two more lines of themed souvenirs. One revolves around the Villains After Hours event, and the other is inspired by the fashions of the 1970s.

The retro ’70s look is the Wear It Proud collection with bright yellows, oranges and reds and big bold display type. There are variations for both Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

Included are tank tops, sweats, spirit jerseys, cross-body bags (very back-in-day Eastern Airlines), caps, orange-striped MagicBands and what the official Disney Parks Blog refers to as “psychedelic platform Crocs.”

These looks can be found at all four Walt Disney World theme parks as well as at the World of Disney store at Disney Springs.

New merchandise has been developed exclusively for the Disney Villains After Hours event, which returns to Magic Kingdom on Friday for 24 select nights through July 10.

A black T-shirt features Disney baddies such as Hades, Ursula, Scar, Maleficent, Dr. Facilier and Evil Queen.

Another featured character is Oogie Boogie, the snake-tongued blob from “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” He’s appearing on a light-up tumbler and his own T-shirt during the event.

The villains goods can be purchased at Magic Kingdom’s Emporium, Star Traders and Fantasy Faire.
