UCF cornerback Brandon Moore continues to make strides as he works his way back from a torn ACL he suffered during the Knights’ 2019 season opener against Florida A&M on Aug. 29.

Moore is among a handful of Knights who remain on campus to continue rehabilitation while the rest of the players returned to their homes to help slow the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Quarterback McKenzie Milton, who is among the injured players working out with Moore, gave an update on his teammate’s progress.

“He’s a freak athlete in the way he heals, and part of me wishes I was like him in that sense,” Milton told reporters during a video conference Thursday. “But it’s also his work ethic and mindset.

“He’s set on getting back for 2020 as well. We encourage each other every day and he’s making big strides.”

Moore has shared moments with Milton during this time on social media, with both players decked out in masks as they work out in the team’s weight room.

“I think he gets his brace off in about a month here, so I’m super excited for him with that because he’s been through so much in his life,” Milton said of Moore. “I don’t want to say, ‘He definitely doesn’t deserve this,’ but it’s going to teach him.

“Being back on the field, he’s going to be a different animal physically and his mind is going to be so sharp. I don’t think anything’s going to stop him.”

Moore has appeared in 27 games, including 20 as a starter, recording 76 total tackles and two interceptions.
