Knights land Lake Brantley running back

Williams rejoins his high school teammate Good

- By Chris Hays

Lake Brantley running back Anthony Williams committed to UCF on Thursday, picking the Knights over 13 other Football Bowl Subdivision scholarship offers, including the Florida Gators.

Williams, a 6-foot, 185-pound runner who has often been overshadowed in Lake Brantley’s triple-option running attack, has been putting up big numbers since his sophomore season. At UCF, he will joining former Lake Brantley stablemate Damarius Good, a 2019 signee who redshirted during his first season at UCF.

Williams ran for 870 yards and 11 touchdowns on 128 carries last season as a junior, and in 2018 he rushed for 1,055 yards and 11 touchdowns on 133 carries. Sharing duties has limited his statistical numbers, but he is yet another talented runner to come out of the Lake Brantley rushing attack. The Patriots have produced numerous running backs over the years, including NFL players Teon Green and Pat Dimarco.

Williams announced the choice on his Twitter account, posting, “First & foremost I wanna thank God for allowing me to play the game I love & protecting me. Thank you to my mom for being my backbone & supporting me throughout this process. I wanna thank my friends & family for being there for me throughout my recruiting process. Thank you to all the schools & coaches who have built a relationship with me & recruited me it was definitely an experience of a lifetime, But I can only choose one. With that being said I will continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Central Florida. #GoKnights #ChargeOn #21takeoff.”
