■ Indians: Shane Bieber struck out 10 in five innings to remain unbeaten in 2020, Carlos Santana had two RBIs and 3B Jose Ramirez made a jaw-dropping defensive play to lead the Indians to a 4-1 win over the visiting Brewers on Sunday. Bieber (7-0) only allowed one run and five singles, but the Brewers were patient at the plate and made the RHP run up his pitch count. Bieber came in leading the majors in strikeouts and added to his total by reaching double-digits for the sixth time this season.

■ White Sox: Edwin Encarnacio­n hit a three-run HR, Dallas Keuchel threw five scoreless innings and the AL Central-leading White Sox beat the Royals 8-2 to complete a fourgame sweep. Keuchel (6-2) left the game with lower back stiffness after throwing a few warmup pitches before the sixth and is considered day to day. He threw 49 pitches, allowed two hits and struck out two. Jose Abreu singled in the road victory to extend his hitting streak to 20 games.

■ Angels: Anthony Rendon homered, Jared Walsh and Justin Upton delivered key hits during a four-run eighth and the host Angels beat the Astros 9-5 to sweep the series. The Angels have a won a seasonhigh five straight and posted their first four-game sweep since 2017. Rendon homered for the second straight game. The Astros have dropped four straight after winning 15 of 21. It was 106 degrees at first pitch, making it the eighth game to start with tripledigi­t temperatur­es since the Anaheim, Calif, ballpark opened in 1966.

■ Padres,: Fernando Tatis Jr. matched Angels slugger Mike Trout for the majors’ HR lead with his 15th, a two-run drive in the seventh of the Padres’ backand-forth 5-3 win over the A’s. Sean Murphy homered on another scorching-hot September day in the Bay Area and Matt Olson hit a pair of RBI singles for the A’s, who lost two of three to the Padres and have dropped four of five overall. Garrett Richards (2-2) struck out nine and didn’t walk a batter over seven sharp innings to end a four-start winless stretch. He allowed three runs on three hits.

■ Extra innings: Freddie Freeman hit his second career grand slam — and second of the series — leading the Braves to a 10-3 win over Patrick Corbin and the visiting Nationals. Josh Tomlin allowed one run in six innings as the Braves split the four-game series. Marcell Ozuna drove in four runs with three hits, including a HR and a three-run triple. Nats GM Mike Rizzo was tossed in the seventh for yelling at umpires from a luxury suite. ... Paul Goldschmid­t hit a three-run HR and the Cardinals gained ground in the NL Central race by beating the host Cubs 7-3. The Cards pulled within 11⁄ games of the Cubs with

2 their third consecutiv­e win over the division leaders, sweeping a doublehead­er Saturday after the Cubs won the series opener Friday. The rivals have one game left in their season series Monday. ... 3B Matt Chapman exited the Athletics’ loss to the Padres with a right hip strain. He will get an MRI.
