Universal extends Halloween Horror Nights offerings, trick-or-treating

- By Kathleen Christiansen

Universal Orlando Resort announced in a Facebook Live video that it is extending access to two Halloween Horror Nights houses that would have appeared at the 2020 event, which was canceled over coronavirus concerns.

Universal Monsters: The Bride of Frankenstein Lives and Revenge of the Tooth Fairy will be available to Universal Studios guests Sept. 26-27 and Oct. 3-Nov. 1, according to Universal’s website.

“It’s not the Halloween season without Universal Orlando,” the video stated.

The houses are included with regular theme park admission. Guests will use the Virtual Line experience in the Universal Orlando Resort app to secure a return time to visit the houses.

As usual, Universal warns that the haunted houses may be too intense for young children. The resort has referred to HHN as rated PG-13 in the past. Familyfriendly costumes are allowed, but costume masks are a no-go. Face coverings are required, along with the usual coronavirus precautions, including temperature screenings.

In addition to the houses, Universal’s Halloween Seasonal Experiences include trick-or-treating for ages 12 and younger will continue on select dates at Islands of Adventure as well. In addition to these offerings, guests can complete the Scarecrow Stalk scavenger hunt to earn a sweet reward or visit the HHN-themed Tribute Store to pick up merchandise and goodies.

Universal previously made the aforementioned houses available to regular daytime guests Sept. 19-20 as well as a special night for premier passholders on Sept. 18. The houses almost immediately reached capacity as the parks opened on Saturday and Sunday.
