Deputies say student,12, responsible for non-threat
Deputies have determined a 12-year-old student was responsible for a threat to Millennium Middle School that drew additional law enforcement to the Sanford campus Tuesday morning, the Seminole Sheriff’s Office said.
An investigation found the threat was not credible, the agency said.
“Based on the totality of circumstances, from this point, the matter will be handled at the school-district level,” said sheriff ’s spokesman Bob Kealing.
The student has not been identified, and authorities have not revealed the nature of the threat.
“There is NO threat to the Millennium campus. With that being said, please continue to stay vigilant,” the Seminole County Public Schools said in an afternoon update.
In an
earlier
statement, the district had said investigators were working to determine the “credibility and source [of the threat] out of an abundance of caution.”
“Our detectives have spent the morning working to identify and speak with the individual involved to determine if there is any credibility to this potential threat,” Kealing said Tuesday morning.
The school district added: “As always, we wish to remind our students and families that the district has zero tolerance for threats made against a school. There are severe consequences for anyone making such threats.”
The district’s statement encouraged anyone with information to share it anonymously through the SpeakOut Hotline at 800-423-8477, the P3 Campus App or the FortifyFL App.
