Snow park set to open in Central Florida in November
If there are two words that don’t look right next to each other, snow and Florida are certainly among them. While the Sunshine State may experience brief flurries on occasion in the Panhandle, it’s been decades since Central Florida has seen frozen precipitation fall from the sky.
Snowcat Ridge, a Dade City snow park, aims to let it snow in Florida, planning to open its slopes and snow dome to visitors this November next to TreeHoppers Aerial Adventure Park.
The winter wonderland will feature a 60-foot-tall, 400-foot-long snow tubing hill with a magic carpet lift to tow tubers back to the top. Tubes will be available in the single, double and six-person varieties.
Inside Snowcat Ridge’s snow dome, visitors can make snowmen and play with real snow, as well as send children down the miniature snow hill.
The on-site Alpine Village will give Floridians a chance to warm up with hot cocoa and a bite while relaxing near a bonfire. This is where guests can also find a seasonal holiday market with local artisans (Snowcat Ridge is now accepting applications for vendors).
“Some folks think it’s impossible to experience snow tubing and the joy of snow in Florida, but our team is all about making the impossible, possible,” said Mark Bremer, creative director of Snowcat Ridge, according to That’s So Tampa.
The attraction plans to release more updates soon regarding their opening date, as construction is still underway.
