A driver who ran from a fatal crash while injured and the friend who later picked her up were arrested Friday morning, hours after the driver collided with another car in an accident that killed a motorcyclist, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Kimberly Guzman Lijeron, 22, faces a charge of leaving the scene of a fatal crash, a first-degree felony, said FHP spokeswoman Lt. Kim Montes.

The woman who picked her up, 22-year-old Jacqueline Solano, was arrested on charges of acting as an accessory after the fact and destroying or concealing evidence.

Guzman Lijeron was driving south on Lake Pickett Road — near the intersection of Percival Road in east Orange County, just south of the University of Central Florida — around 4:20 a.m. when she veered into the northbound lanes and the left front of her sedan struck the driver’s side of an SUV driven by a 48-year-old Casselberry man, according to a crash report.

The crash killed a 27-year-old Orlando woman whose motorcycle crashed into the back of the SUV after the initial impact. She was transported to a hospital where she later died, Montes said.

Two others, the driver of the SUV and a 25-year-old Orlando man who was Guzman Lijeron’s passenger, suffered minor injuries, Montes said.

Guzman Lijeron was arrested at an apartment she shares with Solano after her passenger, who stayed at the scene, told an FHP officer Guzman Lijeron called Solano after the accident to pick her up, according to an arrest report.

In an interview with officers, Solano said she did not call 911 after driving Guzman Lijeron back to their apartment, the arrest report said.

Solano was booked into the Orange County Jail on $3,500 bond. Guzman Lijeron will be booked into the jail after receiving treatment for her injuries, Montes said.
