More time to see Ocoee and Pompeii exhibits

Orlando Science Center and Orange County Regional History Center are providing additional chances to see the current exhibits based on events in Pompeii and Ocoee, respective­ly.

“Pompeii: The Immortal City” closes at the science center, its last stop in the United States, on Jan. 24. The Loch Haven museum will stay open until 8 p.m. on Jan. 22 and Jan. 23 (last tickets sold at 7 p.m.). Displays include artifacts and recreation­s of the city destroyed after the volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Admission is $26 ($18 for ages 2-11) and includes access to all of the science center.

The run of history center’s exhibit titled “Yesterday, This Was Home: The Ocoee Massacre of 1920s has been extended three weeks. It will now close March 7. The exhibition looks at the race-related voting-day violence in Orange County, which included a lynching, an unknown number of murders of African-Americans and the burning of multiple buildings. Admission to the downtown Orlando museum is $8 ($6 for ages 5-12).
