Eight boys basketball teams and five area soccer teams continue their quests for state championships this weekend.

All of the area games are set for Friday except a Class 3A boys soccer state semifinal for Trinity Prep. The Saints play Saturday afternoon in Miami against Westminster Christian.

The Geneva School’s girls soccer squad is the only area team playing at home in the Final Four round. The Knights will host a Class 2A matchup of unbeatens against St. Johns Country Day of Orange Park, which is among the nation’s top-ranked teams.

Undefeated Orlando Christian Prep, the reigning champion and top-ranked team in Class 2A boys basketball, is home against third-ranked Central Florida Christian Academy. It is a rematch of a 2020 region final OCP won, but not without strong resistance from the Eagles.

CFCA was the 2A state champion two years ago.

Oak Ridge, the No. 1 ranked team in 7A, hosts Sarasota Riverview in another rematch from last season’s region final round. The Pioneers routed the Rams 75-47 in Sarasota on their way to the final four.

Dr. Phillips, No. 2 in 7A, is home against reigning region champ Seminole.

The games at Oak Ridge and DP both sold out quickly with capacity capped at 25% due to Orange County Public Schools COVID-19 precautions. Admission for region games is $7.

Friday’s boys basketball winners advance to next week’s state tournament, March 3-6, at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland.

Soccer semifinal winners advance to state finals that will be played at Spec Martin Stadium in DeLand next week.
