The latest satellite sites under a federal COVID-19 vaccination program are due to open at Barnett Park in Pine Hills and the Mary Jane Arrington Aquatic Center in Poinciana from Thursday to Saturday.

The sites run by the U.S. Army and the Federal Emergency Management Agency can administer 500 shots per day, but are not taking appointments — shots will be only available to walkups.

Satellite sites are chosen according to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention’s Social Vulnerability Index, and are targeted for areas of low vaccination rates, areas with a lack of transportation and other barriers and areas not close to other vaccination sites.

The effort will take over the gymnasium at Barnett Park from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the site will reopen for second doses. Those who are eligible for the vaccine at federal sites include:

Long-term care facility staff and residents People 65 years and older Front-line health-care workers

K-12, child-care facility and college employees, regardless of age

Law enforcement officers and firefighters older than 50

People deemed “extremely vulnerable” to COVID-19 who completed a Department of Health form signed by their doctor.

spades, ruffed by Ouvrier. A club to dummy’s ace was followed by a heart to the jack. West won this with his queen and continued with the ace and another heart to South.

Ouvrier now had to decide how to tackle the diamond suit. The normal play was to cash the ace and lead back to the jack, hoping that East holds the queen. Ouvrier, however, decided that West was more likely to hold the queen of diamonds. He made this decision based on East’s pre-emptive bid, but in truth, that is no more than a mild indicator. Ouvrier backed his judgment by trying a play that is seldom seen, known as a backwards finesse.

Ouvrier led the jack of diamonds from his hand. Had West ducked, Ouvrier would have let it ride, but West covered the jack with the queen, losing to dummy’s ace. Ouvrier completed his inspired play by leading a diamond from the dummy and inserting his nine when East played low. When the nine held the trick, Ouvrier had his contract and a deal for the newspaper. Well done!
