UCF coach Gus Malzahn continues to fill out his roster, adding another transfer in former Northwestern running back Isaiah Bowser.

Bowser, a 3-star prospect from Sidney, Ohio, who was a part of the Wildcats’ 2018 recruiting class, announced his decision on social media Friday afternoon.

“Excited for the opportunity! #ChargeOn,” he posted on Twitter.

Bowser appeared in 23 games during his time in Evanston, rushing for 1,300 yards and seven touchdowns on 334 carries. His best season was in 2018 when he started nine games and finished with 866 yards and six touchdowns.

He started four of Northwestern’s first five games last season before injuries forced him into a smaller role, sharing backfield carries with Cam Porter and Drake Anderson. Bowser entered the transfer portal in mid-December and previously committed to playing at Miami of Ohio before decommitting this week.

Bowser joins a young but talented running backs group at UCF that includes redshirt junior Bentavious Thompson, sophomore Damarius Good and freshmen Johnny Richardson and Anthony Williams. While the group has a combined 49 appearances, none of the players has made a career start.

He becomes the second running back to transfer to UCF, joining former Auburn tailback Mark Antony-Richards, who announced his decision to reunite with his former coach in late February.

Former Auburn and Colorado State receiver Nate Craig-Myers, Auburn defensive end Big Kat Bryant and Tennessee receiver Brandon Johnson also joined the Knights this offseason as transfers.
