FloridaHSFootball.com places 39 area players on all-state 1st team
Three Orlando-area high school football coaches and two senior standout players earned top honors this week as part of 2020 FloridaHSFootball.com all-state selections.
Sanford Seminole’s Eric Lodge, Lake Minneola’s Walter Banks and Foundation Academy’s Brad Lord were named coaches of the year in their respective classifications.
Lodge led the Seminoles to the Class 8A state championship in December in his first season as head coach. Banks’ Lake Minneola squad finished as 6A state runner-up in its first championship game appearance. Lord guided Foundation to a 2A state semifinal.
Seminole quarterback Timmy McClain is the overall player of the year in 8A. Foundation Academy linebacker Danny Stutsman is the defensive player of the year in 2A.
McClain and Stutsman are two of 39 players from the Orlando Sentinel coverage area who earned all-state first-team status, as compiled by FloridaHSFootball. com publisher Joshua Wilson.
Consideration for Class 8A-1A and independent all-state selections was made via nominations from coaches, MaxPreps stats, a team’s strength of schedule, and placement in all-area and all-county teams as published by media outlets.
