Lucy Lane Mitchell (Lambert), 91, of Winter Park passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Lucy Lane was born in Dalton, GA, the first child of Lucy Lane and Thomas Mitchell Lambert, Sr. She attended Ward Belmont College in Nashville and went on to graduate college at the University of Georgia, where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority, and was named Miss University of Georgia. She was married to her lifelong sweetheart, William Clay Mitchell, Sr. M.D. for 61 years. They moved to Winter Park in 1960, where they raised their four children. Lucy Lane was a member of the Junior League of Orlando, Council of 101, the Country Club of Orlando, Rosalind Club, and Interlache­n Country Club, where Bill was a founding member. She and Bill were also founding members of Interlache­n Country Club of Winter Park. She is remembered by all as the consummate Southern Belle. Her personal devotion and commitment was to her family and many dear friends. Lucy Lane is survived by her four devoted children, William Clay Mitchell, Jr. (Kim), Michael Lambert Mitchell, Sr. (Judy), Laura Lane Heidrich and Mark Erwin Mitchell; eight grandchild­ren, Massie Wanzenberg (Chris) and Clay Mitchell, M.D.; Michael, Jr. and Ashley Mitchell; Mitch, Lucy Lane and Adelia Heidrich; and three great grandchild­ren, Wright, Cole and Lucy Wanzenberg. Lucy Lane’s service will be held on Friday December 3, 2021 at 1pm at the First United Methodist Church at 125 N. Interlache­n Avenue, Winter Park. The service will be officiated by Rev. David Miller, with a eulogy delivered by Dr. Bob Bushong. A reception will follow at 2pm at Interlache­n Country Club.
