Santana undergoes heart procedure

-

Carlos Santana has successfully undergone a heart procedure and is canceling several Las Vegas shows.

In a video message released Wednesday, Santana said he asked his wife to take him to the hospital on Saturday because of an issue with his chest.

“I’m going to be taking time off for a little bit to make sure that I replenish and rest,” Santana said.

Michael Vrionis, president of Universal Tone Management, said the guitarist, 74, underwent an “unscheduled heart procedure,” but gave no specifics.

The 10-time Grammy winner’s heart procedure and recovery prompted the cancellation of his concerts at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino through the end of the year.

“Carlos is doing fantastic and is anxious to be back on stage soon,” Vrionis said in a statement. “He profoundly regrets that this ‘speed bump’ necessitated the cancellation” of his performances.

Court backs duchess: A British court on Thursday dismissed an appeal by a newspaper publisher seeking to overturn an earlier ruling that it breached the privacy of the Duchess of Sussex by publishing portions of a letter she wrote to her estranged father.

The Court of Appeal in London upheld a High Court ruling in February that publication of the letter that the former Meghan Markle wrote to her father, Thomas Markle, after she married Prince Harry in 2018 was “manifestly excessive and hence unlawful.”

The publisher of the Mail on Sunday and the MailOnline website challenged that decision at the

Court of Appeal, which held a hearing last month.

In a statement, Meghan said the ruling was “a victory not just for me, but for anyone who has ever felt scared to stand up for what’s right.”

Mekka acted in dozens of TV shows and films over the course of a career that spanned four decades.

“A sad goodbye to Eddie Mekka this morning,” Michael McKean, who played Lenny Kosnowski on “Laverne & Shirley,” tweeted Thursday.
