2 dead after SUV overturns into pond

A man and woman in their 20s were killed early Tuesday when their SUV overturned into a pond just outside Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The passenger, a 28-yearold Louisiana woman, was pronounced dead at the scene in Kissimmee.

The driver, a 25-year-old Valrico man, died later at a hospital in Celebratio­n.

The accident took place about 2:24 a.m. as the man driving the 2018 Nissan Rogue west on U.S. 192 near World Drive failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway.

Man arrested in fatal shooting at Orange mobile home park

A 20-year-old man faces a first-degree murder charge for a shooting last month at a mobile home park near Pine Hills, according to the Orange County Sheriff ’s Office.

Marcos Alquicira was arrested Monday for the Nov. 27 shooting of Yohan De La Riva, who deputies found wounded inside a vehicle that crashed at Groves Mobile Home Park.

De La Riva later died at a hospital. His passenger, a 22-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital in stable condition, the agency said.

The arrest warrant for Alquicira was not immediatel­y available. He is being held at Orange County Jail and also faces charges of attempted armed robbery with a firearm and aggravated battery with a firearm.

Driver hits SUV head-on, kills 1

One man is dead, and another man suffered severe injuries in a crash in Osceola County.

A 40-year-old man in a tractor truck was driving north on Poinciana Blvd. on Monday afternoon around 3:50 p.m. when he ran into the east shoulder of the road, according to Lt. Kim Montes.

When he tried to overcorrec­t, he traveled across the northbound lanes onto the southbound lanes on Poinciana Blvd. and struck an SUV in a head-on collision.

The unknown driver in the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Lt. Montes.

The 40-year-old victim was transporte­d to the hospital with serious injuries.
