New UCF offensive coordinator and quarterback coach Chip Lindsey signed a two-year deal that pays him $450,000 annually, according to documents obtained by The Orlando Sentinel.

Lindsey was hired Monday by Gus Malzahn to replace G.J. Kinne, who held the same coordinator position on the staff but accepted a job to become the head coach at Incarnate Word last week.

Prior to three seasons as head coach at Troy, Lindsey worked under Malzahn from 2017-18 in the same coordinator role and previously in 2013 as an offensive analyst.

The contract, which is signed by Lindsey and UCF AD Terry Mohajir, runs through Jan. 31, 2024, and includes traditional language regarding expected standards for the job, responsibilities such as recruiting, termination compensation, incentives and additional benefits.

If Lindsey were to resign before the end of the 2022 football season, UCF would receive $450,000. The school would receive 50% if he resigned after 2022 but before the 2023 season.

This buyout shall be waived by Mohajir if Lindsey terminates the contract after the end of the 2022 season to accept a coaching position in the NFL or a collegiate coaching position where Lindsey is determined to be the head coach.

Lindsey will be eligible to receive a bonus equal to one month’s gross salary for winning a conference championship and preparing the team for and coaching in the NCAA sanctioned bowl game.

If UCF reaches a bowl game but does not win a conference championship, he will be eligible to receive a bonus equal to 50% of one month’s gross salary for preparing the team for and coaching in the bowl game. If Lindsey violates NCAA rules and faces disciplinary action, whether imposed by the NCAA or self-imposed, he would be disqualified for bonus pay.

Additional benefits include a relocation stipend, a car, sick leave and holidays, a retirement plan, and membership options for health and/ or life insurance.

Kinne hires away UCF offensive assistant

Kam Martin is set to join Kinne at the University of Incarnate Word, according to 247Sports’ Brandon Marcello.

Martin served as a recruiting and offensive assistant under Malzahn and Kinne at UCF but will receive a promotion at UIW becoming Kinne’s running backs coach.

A former running back at Auburn, Martin finished his career with 1,564 rushing yards, the 29th most in program history. He graduated from Auburn in December 2019.

With the move, Martin is closer to home in San Antonio. In high school in Port Arthur, Texas, about four hours east of Incarnate Word, he helped Memorial win the 2015 Texas Class 6A State Title.
