Peter A. Knocke

-

Peter A. Knocke, who loved everything about life, passed away in his sleep on January 8, 2022, at his home in Osteen with his beloved wife Julia Langberg by his side after a valiant four-year battle against prostate cancer.

Born in Neenah, Wisconsin, on August 20, 1949, Pete graduated from Quantico High School in Virginia and, according to him, a different school each prior year because his father was in the U.S. Marine Corps. Pete went on to receive his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Florida, became a member of the Florida bar and ran a successful private practice for many years. He was a photographer for the UF newspaper and always had a camera ready for wildlife photography.

Pete participated wholeheartedly in whatever interested him. He took refuge in the Buddhist Drikung Lineage in 1993 and in later years aspired to be a mentor and practicing scholar in the local Buddhist community.

He loved buying the best gear for each activity he was involved in. He was very active in Systema martial arts, boxing, tai chi, and yoga. He was an avid reader, cyclist, a jogger in his younger years, kayaker, sailor, collector, wood worker, and wooden boat enthusiast.

Pete was the son of the late Col. Jack and Eunice Knock, formerly of Wisconsin. He is survived by his wife Julia Langberg, daughter Jamie, and his brother Philip (Melanie) and nephew Charles Knocke of Columbia, Mo. He was also a devoted honorary grandfather to Sara (Langberg) Wylder.

Pete has requested that he be cremated and that his memorial ceremony be private. The family would like to thank his friend Drupon Thinley Ningpo Rinpoche of the Drikung Kagyu Institute and the staff of Vitas Hospice for their kindness and care. Namaste.
