Central Florida Film Festival returns to Mount Dora with more than 150 films
The Central Florida Film Festival (CENFLO) is returning to Mount Dora later this month. Described as a film festival by filmmakers for filmmakers, this year’s event will screen 156 films over 3 days at Epic Theatres Mount Dora from Jan. 21-23.
Brendon Rogers, executive director for CENFLO said this year’s event was designed to have wide appeal and will have something for fans of “all genres,” including “comedies or horror or sci-fi fantasy.” In addition, this year’s festival will have a good mix of “shorts and feature lengths.”
Official selections will compete for top honors at an awards ceremony at the close of the festival, including an audience choice award.
New for 2022 is CENFLO’s all-new Hollywood Luminary Award. The concept behind this award is to recognize “those who have made a significant contribution to motion picture arts” according to Rogers. The inaugural recipient of this award is comic book artist and writer George Perez who worked at both Marvel and DC, and “created and worked on a lot of the titles that are cresting with film.”
In addition to film screenings and awards ceremonies, single- and multiday attendees can also check out a number of panel discussions Including a documentary-making panel aimed at students on Saturday, and an Orlando 48-hour film project panel on Sunday.
