The Central Florida football team will hold its annual spring game at noon April 16 at the Bounce House, the program announced Thursday.

UCF will be allowed 15 on-field practice sessions in the spring, with no more than 12 involving contact, according to the Division I Football Oversight Committee. Full contact may not occur until the third practice.

The April game date means the Knights likely will begin spring football practice in the middle of March, following the university’s spring break from March 6-13. Practices can be conducted over a 34-day period, placing the first day at UCF on March 14.

Eight of the 12 contact practices can involve tackling, and no more than three of those eight may be devoted to 11-on-11 scrimmages.

This year’s game will feature a number of additions from the

NCAA Transfer Portal along with a handful early enrollees from the 2022 recruiting class who signed with UCF in December.

Florida tight end Kemore Gamble, Auburn wide receiver Kobe Hudson and defensive tackle Lee Hunter, Virginia offensive lineman Ryan Swoboda, Maryland linebacker Terrence Lewis, Kentucky linebacker K.D. McDaniel, Austin Peay defensive back Koby Perry and Jacksonville State offensive tackle Tylan Grable have transferred to UCF.

In addition to new players, key contributors such as fifth-year running back Isaiah Bowser and offensive lineman Sam Jackson return.

The game also marks the second straight year that the Knights’ spring game will be played at noon.

Last year’s spring game was highlighted by the player wearing jerseys with their Twitter handles on the back. The move received national attention at the time.

“We’ve been saying that the future of college football is right here [at UCF],” Knights coach Gus Malzahn said last year. “This is a new age of personal branding. We’re going to embrace it.”

This year’s official news release hinted at the possibility of a similar stunt by the Knights asking the question to fans, “Who knows what they’ve got in store this time around?”

More details for the spring game will be available at a later date, the team said.
