Peter Thomas March

-

Age 58, of Orlando, passed away following a 4-year battle with cancer on April 11, 2022. His last days were spent surrounded by the love of his family and the tremendous care of his nursing team.

Pete, as he was lovingly known to family and friends, was born in Jersey City, NJ on Oct 7, 1963 to Frances (née Heron) and Dr. Thomas L March. The family moved to Winter Park, FL less than a year later and he grew up a quintessential son of the city….roaming the streets of the Vias, swimming and playing tennis at the Winter Park Racquet Club and soaking up the sun on Lake Maitland.

Everyone loved Pete. He was the sweetest of them all. Quick-witted with an eternal impish smile, he was always up for a good time. He had a killer combination of good looks, the gift of gab and a heart of gold which attracted the hearts of many a girlfriend. He formed life-long friendships throughout elementary, middle and high school and his friends were with him until the end. Thank you to Scotty, Blair, Larry, Tim and Stan who took Pete for one last boat ride around their old stomping grounds only a few weeks ago. You made his day and ours.

As a young man, Peter was an athlete and a scholar. He graduated from Trinity Preparatory School where he was named a Walt Disney Dreamer & Doer. He followed his big sister, Ellen, to Southern Methodist University in Dallas where he discovered the power of his charm and the thrill of a good party.

Although the years in between were often a struggle, Pete always looked on the bright side and never complained. He kept us laughing and shared his love the best way he knew how, never letting a day pass without phoning his parents, son and siblings. He had a passion for cooking, was a chocolate candy connoisseur and couldn’t live without his Diet Mountain Dew or his famous McDonald’s order: double cheeseburger, french fries, vanilla milkshake and apple pie.

His pride in life was his son Cameron who is a living legacy of Peter’s sense of humor, good looks and intelligence.

Peter lived the past decade of his life at Terra Vista in Orlando. We would like to thank the Terra Vista & Vitas Hospice teams, especially Doreen, Loretta, TJ, Adrianna, Ashley, Alfredo, Richard and the many others that loved, laughed and cared for Pete over the years as well as sister-in-law Rev. Amanda March and Father Walsh for their prayers and spiritual guidance.

Peter was predeceased by his father Dr. Thomas Leonard March, sister Karin March Jones and brother-in-law William Davis Jones. He is survived by his son Cameron March, his mother Frances Heron March, siblings David March, Ellen March Reckmeyer, and Susan March, niece Culbreth Jones Ferla (Joe), nephews Bradford March (Lauren), Tyler March (Katie), Dylan March, Deaton Jones, Rohde Reckmeyer and Jack Henry Reckmeyer.

Pete – “We love you more” and will miss you until we see you again.

A Memorial Mass in celebration of his life will be held on Fri, April 29 at 11 am, St. Margaret Mary Church Chapel, 526 N. Park Avenue, Winter Park, FL 32789. In lieu of flowers, please continue to honor Pete in your daily life with acts of kindness and compassion. Arrangements under the direction of DeGusipe Funeral Home, Maitland, FL www.degusipe.com
