FHSAA semifinals include 10 teams from Orlando area
Hagerty and Lake Highland Prep girls lacrosse teams host Florida High School Athletic Association regional semifinal games Tuesday vs. Orange County opponents.
The Huskies face Windermere High in Class 2A while Lake Highland clashes with rival Bishop Moore in 1A. Oviedo and Lake Brantley are on the road again in 2A after winning regional quarterfinals last week.
Lake Mary, Winter Park and Windermere High each host 2A boys lacrosse semifinal contests Wednesday vs. out-of-area teams. Montverde Academy travels to Melbourne to face Holy Trinity Episcopal in 1A.
Girls winners advance to the regional final round Friday. Boys region championship games will be played Saturday. Start time for all regional games is 7 p.m. Admission is $7.
The FHSAA state final four takes place May 5-7 at Paradise Coast Sports Complex in Naples.

Girls semifinals Class 2A Region 1
No. 5 Oviedo (17-4) at No. 1 St. Johns Bartram Trail (18-3)
Buzz: Oviedo lost 19-2 when the teams played April 6. Lions have dropped 8 in a row vs. Bartram Trail since 2015. Bears rank No. 2 and Oviedo ranks No. 8 in FHSAA Class 2A power ratings.
No. 7 Lake Brantley (11-8) at No. 3 Ponte Vedra (14-5)
Buzz: First meeting between programs since Lake Brantley won 15-14 in 2014. Patriots pulled out 14-13 (OT) upset of No. 2 seed Lake Mary (14-6) last week. Ponte Vedra ranks No. 7 in 2A.
Class 2A Region 2
No. 6 Windermere High (13-5) at No. 2 Hagerty (15-6)
Buzz: Windermere’s 16-15

Winner plays No. 1 Vero Beach (14-3) or No. 5 Viera (13-4).
Class 1A Region 2
No. 5 Bishop Moore (11-8) at No. 1 Lake Highland Prep (14-2)
Buzz: Lake Highland won two previous outings this season by a combined 28-12 score. The Highlanders, state runners-up last year, rank No. 2 in 1A. Winner plays No. 2 Satellite (17-2) or No. 6 Merritt Island Edgewood (12-4).
Wednesday
Boys semifinals Class 2A Region 1
No. 3 St. Johns Creekside (15-4) at No. 2 Lake Mary (18-2)
Buzz: Fourth meeting in 2 years. Lake Mary, which prevailed 13-12 on April 1, narrowly won twice in 2021. Rams rank No. 3 in 2A. Creekside is No. 6. Winner plays No. 1 Ponte Vedra (16-3) or No. 5 Ponte Vedra Nease (11-7).
Class 2A Region 2
No. 5 Stuart Martin County (13-2) at No. 1 Winter Park (17-2) Buzz: Winter Park, state runners-up last year, has won 9 in a row since losing twice by 1 goal in March. The Wildcats rank No. 4 in 2A. Martin County ranks No. 9. No. 3 Vero Beach (9-5) at No. 2 Windermere High (17-2)
Buzz: Rematch of last year’s region semifinal won 5-2 by Windermere. Wolverines are on 10-game win streak since beating Vero Beach 16-4 on March 8.
Class 1A Region 2
No. 6 Montverde Academy (12-6) at No. 2 Melbourne Holy Trinity (17-1)
Buzz: Montverde is on road again after winning 12-11 last week at No. 3 Lake Highland Prep (9-9). Eagles rank No. 9 in 1A and Holy Trinity is No. 10. Winner plays No. 1 Palm Beach Gardens Benjamin (15-3) or No. 5 Vero Beach St. Edward’s (14-4).
