9 Central Florida restaurant­s receive emergency shutdown orders last week

Nine Central Florida restaurant­s received emergency orders to shut down in the week of April 24-30, according to data from the Florida Department of Business and Profession­al Regulation.

Orange County

Paris Banh Mi Llc at 1021 E. Colonial Dr. in Orlando shut down on April 25.

Inspectors found 22 violations, 10 of which were a high priority. Those violations included improperly stored medicine, flying insects, rodent activity and inappropri­ate food temperatur­es.

Officials made another visit on April 26.

They found five violations and received a time extension for the flying insects.

A second visit on April 26 found four violations but the restaurant met inspection standards.

Mynt Indian Cuisine at 535 W. New England Ave. Suite 100 in Winter Park shut down on April 28.

Officials found 19 violations, seven of which were a high priority. Those violations included flying insects, raw animal food next to ready-to-eat food and an expired food license.

Another visit on April 29 found six violations and time extensions for two high-priority violations.

The restaurant was allowed to reopen.

Moghul Indian Cuisine at 401 N. Semoran Blvd. in Winter Park shut down on April 29.

Officials found 17 violations, seven of which were a high priority. Those violations included flying insects, rodent activity, and a stop-sale issued on food found “not being in a wholesome, sound condition.”

A visit on April 30 found five violations with time extensions for an expired license and a missing vacuum breaker from the mop sink faucet.

The restaurant still requires a follow-up inspection, but was allowed to reopen.

Osceola County

On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina at 3250 Rolling Oaks Blvd. in Kissimmee shut down on April 27.

Inspectors found ten violations, four of which were a high priority. Those violations included flying insects, a stopsale on various food items and food held at the wrong temperatur­e.

Officials went back on April 28 and found eight violations.

A final visit on April 29 found five violations but the restaurant met inspection standards and was allowed to reopen.

Lake County Mickey Finn’s Irish Pub

at 16909 High Grove Blvd. Suite A in Clermont shut down on April 28.

Inspectors found 11 violations, three of which were a high priority. Those violations included improper storage of raw animal food, roach activity and dish machine chlorine sanitizer not being at the proper strength.

A second visit that day found four violations and the restaurant received a time extension for the chlorine sanitizer.

The restaurant still requires a follow-up inspection, but was allowed to reopen.

Brevard County

Sumo Japanese Restaurant Llc

at 258 E. Eau Gallie Blvd. in Indian Harbour Beach shut down on April 27.

Inspectors found 17 violations, four of which were a high priority. Those violations included Raid stored by the dish machine, improper storage of raw animal food and roach activity.

Officials went back on April 28 and found eight violations with a time extension for chlorine sanitizer not being strong enough for the dish machine.

The restaurant was allowed to reopen.

Volusia County Ocean Breeze Bar & Grill

at 521 Flagler Ave. in New Smyrna

Beach shut down on April 25.

Officials found five violations, two of which were a high priority for flying insects and roach activity. A second visit that day found two violations but a follow-up inspection was required before reopening.

Inspectors went back to the restaurant three times on April 26. They found four and two violations, respective­ly.

On the final visit, they found no violations and allowed the restaurant to reopen.

Flagler Tavern at 414 Flagler Ave. in New Smyrna Beach shut down on April 27.

Officials found 27 violations, nine of which were a high priority.

Those violations included improper strength for a dish machine, food not being cooled at the right temperatur­es, a failing heat strip on the stove and roach droppings.

A second visit on the same day found only two violations and the restaurant was allowed to reopen.

Pacific Bistro 222 at 222 B N. Nova Road in Ormond Beach shut down on April 28.

Inspectors found 10 violations, four of which were a high priority.

Those violations included improper storage of raw animal food, roach activity and food held at the wrong temperatur­es.

A visit on April 29 found no violations and the restaurant was allowed to reopen.

Complaints and warnings

Orange had the top spot for most warnings and other complaints in Central Florida with 55.

Volusia County had 28, Brevard had seven, Seminole had 12, Lake had five, and Osceola had 30. Warnings given with required follow-up inspection­s could lead to a business being shut down if problems remain.
