William (Bill) Nygren

William (Bill) Carl Nygren, 75, of Geneva, Florida passed away on May 21, 2022. Bill lived courageous­ly with Parkinson’s Disease for 15 years. He is survived by his long-time companion Lynn Byers, son and daughterin-law Laird and Colleen Nygren, grandsons Devin Nygren and Carl Nygren, brothers John Nygren and George Nygren, and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Bill Nygren graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in mechanical engineerin­g. He moved to Pennsylvan­ia to start his career with Westinghou­se, where he dedicated his entire career, and retired as CEO for the Westinghou­se Joint Ventures to China. Bill retired in Geneva Florida and was very involved in that community where he donated much time to the Museum of Geneva History. Bill was dedicated to preserving history and collected quality antique items in that vein. Significan­t collection­s included muskets, pocket watches, steam engines, gas engines and farmrelate­d equipment. Bill was particular­ly passionate about transporta­tion-related items with an antique car collection and extensive horse-drawn buggy collection. The buggy collection included examples from the early 1700s to early 1900s. He donated this collection of 35 buggies to the Seminole County Historical Society in 2019, where they continue to raise funds to renovate a building to display the collection.
