Ticked off! @foolish self

-

I’m ticked off at myself. All these years, I’ve been watching news broadcasts to find out what’s going on in the world and the local community. Based on what folks writing in to this column are saying, I should have been more focused on what the newscasters were wearing and how their hair was styled! How could I have been so foolish?

After reading this column every day since moving to Florida and retiring, I am so grateful that I no longer have to work with the public, because all of those cranky old grouches you see in Ticked off! are the constant complainers and petty grievance-brokers I was paid to try to please every day. No more!

I love the feels like temps because that’s what it actually feels like! If the temp is 80, I want to know if it feels like 70, 80, or 90. I don’t care what the actual temp is. The feels like temp helps what I wear or what my plans might be.

The chic “chipped look” of fingernail polish is merely a sign of millennials’ laziness.

To the person living in Cherokee Historic District who wants OPD to hire more police officers. Well, if the people who applied for jobs could pass the test as well as physical test they’d have a better chance of hiring more people. Then the people who are lucky enough to pass the tests have to get through 10-12 months of training. Not an easy feat, no matter how much you pay in taxes. Trust me, I know first-hand about OPD and they would all love to have qualified people apply for jobs and stick with it. You don’t think the department is tired of working shorthanded day in and day out, for 12-hour shifts!? They are disrespected, underpaid, spread thin and you’re upset about music blaring and cars revving? Buy earplugs.

The flip side

Thank you Sentinel for covering the Stanley Cup Finals on the front sports section page! Go Bolts!!
