Punish drag shows? Are men in kilts next?

-

So Gov. Ron DeSantis wants to pull the liquor license from the Orlando venue Plaza Live (“State moves to revoke Orlando Plaza Live’s liquor license following drag queen show,” Feb. 3). It’s about time! We Floridians need to be free from seeing entertainers in sexually suggestive clothing. Now finish the job, governor!

Every year throughout the state, there are large festivals that serve beer and wine where men wear (gasp) skirts! They call these events the Scottish Highland Games and it is disgusting. Last month in Seminole County alone, an estimated 25,000 people attended the Central Florida Scottish Highland Games where men proudly wore skirts and children are obviously being groomed to do the same. There are no signs posted at the entrance to warn parents that it might not be appropriate for children; and parents bring children of all ages — even under the age of six! — to these gender-confusing events. Furthermore, attendees are encouraged to buy beer by the pitcher at these events, and such over-consumption of alcohol constitutes a public nuisance and leads to disorderly conduct. The governor should stop the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages at all venues that allow the Scottish Highland Games and should sue the cities that allow these perverted festivals to use their facilities.

Finish the job, governor. After all, we are the freedom state. Put a stop to these events so that we can all attend entertainment venues with the freedom to know what’s in someone’s underwear by looking at the clothes they are wearing.
