Home invasion leaves 3 victims in critical condition

- By Garfield Hylton

Florida deputies are investigating a shooting involving multiple victims, including a 6-year-old girl.

The Pasco Sheriff ’s Office said the shooting happened early Friday in the Lake Padgett area of Land O’Lakes. Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco held a press conference to share what he knew.

He said the victims were a 60-year-old man, a 38-year-old woman and a 6-year-old girl. All three are in critical condition, Nocco said.

Nocco believes the shooting is in retaliation for an incident at an adult establishment in Tampa last week. That altercation also included a road rage incident after the one that took place inside the adult establishment. Nocco said four suspects were breaking into the home around 4:40 a.m. looking for the main resident.

“It appears it is a targeted situation. We do not believe there is a public threat,” he said. “We believe that this house was specifically picked by the suspects.”

At the time, the 60-year-old father of the home’s resident arrived to the scene and got into a fight with the suspects outside the home. The suspects ended up shooting him in the head, according to Nocco. Next, the suspects entered the home searching for the primary resident, who was not home. Inside the house the suspects found the alleged target’s girlfriend with her daughter in the master bedroom. The suspects shot them both in their heads, Nocco said.

“How evil must you be that you’re shooting innocent people in their bed while they’re sleeping,” Nocco said. The 60-yearold man called authorities as the four suspects fled the scene. Deputies arrived at the crime scene at nearly the exact time as the supposed intended target, who was not among the shooting victims.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office asked the public to come forward with any information to help them solve the case.

As of this writing, they have no description of the suspects.
