A $10,000 reward is being offered for the arrest of the suspect who shot and killed a woman in an Orlando convenience store last month, Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith said Thursday at a press conference.

The woman, identified as Angela Sutton Washington, was found lying on the sidewalk with an apparent gunshot wound on Feb. 7, after officers responded to multiple calls regarding a shooting at 5100 North Lane.

Orlando Police Homicide Unit detective Barb Sharp said video footage reveals seven to nine men were hanging around outside of the store for about 30 minutes prior to the shooting. As Sutton Washington moved through the group she was struck down with gunfire. The suspect’s vehicle has been identified as a newer model dark blue or black Mazda3.

“This was a senseless murder of a valued member of our community,” Sharp said. “Angela was a military veteran, Desert Storm. She’s a beloved daughter, mother and grandmother. She was simply stopping at the convenience store on the way home to pick something up and was shot and killed.”

OPD said the investigators believe Sutton Washington was not the intended target.

“Multiple individuals were in the shopping plaza at the time of this incident, and we need them to come forward,” OPD said in a statement.

Fernando Washington, Sutton Washington’s son, asked members of the community to think about it as if it was their mother.

“To know right, and to do wrong is still wrong,” he said. “If you have any information; if you know what happened; if you were there, I plead with you to come forward and to bring Angela justice.”
