Youth softball camps coming up

The annual Nor- Cal Softball Youth Summer Camp will be taking place in July and August.

There will be two camps for players ages 7 to 13. The first session will be July 21-23 from9 a.m. to noon at the Community Park Field, 1900 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway in Chico.

The second sessionwil­l be held Aug. 11-13 from 9 a.m. to noon at the same location.

Each camp costs $80 or $140 for both and will focus on fundamenta­ls and skills for softball. Coaches leading instructio­n include Butte College head softball coach Stayce York, assistant coach KaylaMcCon­nell and University of Oregon assistant coach Jo Koons.

A session available for players ages 14 to college will be held on Sunday, Aug. 9 at Community Park.

The cost is $50 and the camp will run from noon to 4 p.m.

Payments can be made either cash or check. Checks can bemade to Nor- Cal Softball and sent to 1634 Harvest Glen Drive in Chico.

Water will not be provided due to the coronaviru­s pandemic so campers are encouraged to bring their ownwater andwater bottles.

Chico Racquet Club Beach Volleyball Academy

SadieMoore and SophieMoor­e of the Chico Racquet Club Beach Volleyball Academy won 21-19, 21-11 in the championsh­ip match over Emma Daughtery and Kendel Thau in the CRC Beach Volleyball Academy Summer Series Tournament No. 3.

Third place went to the pair of Kalani Sterling and Keely Sterling and Dylan Taylor and Karina Chung of Redding.

Fifth place was Emily Smith of Yuba City and Ryleigh Gilliand of Loomis. The Summer Series Tournament continues with No. 4 on Saturday.
