Cal Fire crews finish inspection­s at the North Complex fire

OROVILLE » On Sept. 12 Cal Fire released a map of properties damaged and destroyed within the North Complex fire area, updating three times a day as inspection­s continued.

Cal Fire Deputy Chief of Operations in the Tehama/Glenn UnitDaveRu­ssell said last Sunday 70 percent of homes had been inspected by Cal Fire damage inspection crews. Russell anticipate­d full inspection of damaged and destroyed homes in the past week.

Sunday, Cal Fire announced the final numbers for damaged and destroyed structures with 100 percent of structures have been inspected.

A map has been made available from Cal Fire for evacuees looking to see the damage done to their homes or properties and can be found at https://tinyurl. com/y3jmzxnj.

On the link structures are broken up six different categories within the North Complex fire and are listed as: destroyed, greater than 50 percent; major damage, 26 to 50 percent damage; minor damage, 10 to 25 percent; affected, 1 to 9 percent; inaccessib­le or no damage.

The final damage and destroyed structures numbers are as follows:

• Damaged residentia­l structures: 51

• Damaged commercial structures: 5

• Damaged other structures: 57

• Destroyed residentia­l structures: 1,523

• Destroyed commercial structures: 59

• Destroyed other structures: 760

There have been of 113 damaged structures and 2,342 destroyed structures since the start of the North ComplexWes­t Zone fire that began Aug. 17.

Cal Fire said that evacuated residents may not return to areas where Evacuation Orders remain. Evacuation warnings and evacuation orders can be found at https://www.buttecount­y.net/sheriffcor­oner/.

Cal Fire also provided the link https://www.readyforwi­ldfire.org/post-wildfire/, which provides informatio­n about returning to one’s home after a wildfire.

A video provided shows hints for returning evacuees including checking forhot spots, smoldering stumps and vegetation, checking one’s roof and exterior for hidden embers, turn off appliances and being sure the electrical breaker is not damage before turning on themain circuit breaker.
