Who’s running for school board?

Here’s a look at who’s running for a school board position in their respective school districts. Chico Unified has a total of six candidates vying for two seats. Oroville City Elementary School District has six candidates with three seats up for grabs.

The Paradise Unified School District, Oroville UnionHigh School District, Bangor Union Elementary School District, Golden Feather Union Elementary School District, Palermo Union School District, Pioneer Union Elementary School District are not on the ballot.

Chico Unified

ELIZABETH GRIFFIN » The current school board president is seeking her fourth term. Griffin leans on her experience in law and social work to contribute to the board of trustees.

LINDA HOVEY » Hovey, an incumbent, is seeking her third term on the board. The former chief business officer for Blue Oak Charter School has relied on her understand­ing of finance and accounting dutieswhen serving on the board.

CAITLIN DALBY » Dalby, a science teacher at Marsh Junior High School, wants to provide another teacher’s perspectiv­e to the board. Dalby said she’s in tune with modern issues surroundin­g students and teachers and wants them addressed.

CARRIEKRUE­GER » Krueger, a stay-at-homemother, said she wants to help guide students into future leaders. She said she’smore in touch with today’s students and wants to address mental health needs for children.

MATT TENNIS » Tennis, a rice farmer, has stressed the need for school to return to in-person instructio­n. He said he wants to provide the school board with a perspectiv­e from working parents.

MICHAEL JOHNSON » Johnson, a technology consultant, said he can provide the board with a view focused on technology. Johnson saidhe’d like tofindcrea­tive ways to elevate distance learning with the use of technology.

to her candidate statement, Barnes has served on the board since 2014. She has served on the Wyandotte Avenue School Site Council and wants to stay on the school board to provide financial guidance.

ARTDYCE » Dyce, an incumbent, has served as the clerk of the board for the last two years. He’s a former member fo theWyandot­te Academy Parent Teacher Club.

MARK GROVER » Grover, an appointed incumbent, has served on the board since 2018. Grover is the director of hospitalit­y at Feather Falls Casino and Lodge.

JESSICA ANTHONY » Anthony, a realtor, said she wants to provide a voice for teachers, families and children. She’s currently a parent of two and a classroom volunteer.

SHARONNILS­SON » Nilsson works as a credential analyst for the Butte County Office of Education and is married to an elementary school teacher. Nilsson said she can provide the board with insight on teachers’ and students’ needs.

SEAN MILLER » Miller, a social worker, emphasized the need to consider the emotional well being of students. He cited his experience with crisis management and behavior interventi­on as assets to the board.

TRACELL BIDDLE- LEWIS » Biddle-Lewis, a healthcare analyst, wrote in her candidate statement that she’s passionate about public education. She’s had four children go through public schools and one son graduated from Oroville High.

JOBELLELER­NER » Lerner is listed as a community service volunteer. Her candidate statement was unavailabl­e.

Durham Unified

DAVID LOUDERMILK » Loudermilk has worked as a teacher within Durham Unified School District. He was a substitute teacher, a student teacher and served as an activities and athletic director for the intermedia­te school. Loudermilk wrote in his candidate statement that he wants to bring collaborat­ion, transparen­cy and accountabi­lity to the board.
