Award
Vicky Breeden was presented with a 2020Presidents’ Special Recognition Award for her service to the Chico Branch of the American Association of University Women. During her 31years as a member, Breeden has served in many essential roles, especially on the Tech Trek Scholarship Committee. The committee sends local girls entering 8th grade to a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) summer camp on a university campus every year, funding nearly all of the costs through its scholarships. Sue Blizman received a Presidents’ Special Recognition Award for her contributions to the Chico Branch of the American Association of University Women. She has been an active member for 30years and heads the Tech Trek Scholarship Committee. She lans the annual Appraisal Faire that funds the Tech Trek Summer Camp scholarships for girls entering eight grade. This camp allows girls to experience many areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) activities for a week on a university campus. Snapshots, reader-submitted photos of community events, are published Monday. They may include service projects, guest speakers at club meetings, awards being presented or kids doing school projects. Just make sure there are people in the photo — no more than 12— and keep it current.
