Local candidates proud to run as Democrats

-

It seems like the once honorable Republican Party is increasingly built in a foundation of lies and deception. From the Liar-in- Chief at the top right down to the local level.

In our council race, we have one very conservative Republican — Tandon — who changed her registration to “No Party” just before filing to run. What is she hiding? Is she ashamed to be conservative Republican — or does she know her real beliefs would not play well in the 7th district?

We have another candidate — Denlay — who has a long history of posting online videos that any reasonable person would call unhinged rants — but scrubbed them all right about the time she filed. Why?

And both of them are being heavily supported by a PAC that claims to be “non-partisan” but is anything but. The “Clean and Safe Chico” people are a thoroughly partisan outfit financed by a combination of out of town money and big local developers. Does anyone really believe they care about the issues they rant about? Of course they don’t. They have one goal — a compliant council that will give them free reign to create urban sprawl that will leave all of us sitting in ever-growing traffic jams.

They want to scare you with “needles” (which are NOT being distributed) and an imaginary crime wave. By contrast, the Democratic candidates cover a wide spectrum — fromAnn Schwab’s thoughtful moderation to Lauren Kohler’s youthful, energetic progressivism — but all are proud to run as Democrats. Reject the deception and fearmongering.
