Men’s Club held a Christmas gift theme for its final tournament of the year, finishing the tournament just ahead of the rain by a few minutes.

The top 12 finishers picked a number and inside the correspond­ing envelope having the same number was the amount of golf shop credit that player earned. The top 12 recipients in the order they finished in the net scoring tournament were: George Boelman, 67; John MacTavish, 71; Jeff Day, 71; Ed Anderson, 73; Rob Sylvester, 73; Denny Varley, 74; Erv Alves, 74; Ray Parker, 75; Dave Smith, 76; Joe Bitker, 77; Tod Kimmelshue, 77; Marc Richmond, 77. The gift shop credit ranged from $30 to $50. Because of the COVID-19 restrictio­ns, the gift shop credit was the alternativ­e to holding the traditiona­l compliment­ary senior men’s club end- of-the-year dinner, which is paid for out of

the senior men’s club tournament fund balance.

The team of Vicki Ellcessor, Irma Jenkins and Ruth Younger took first in the Butte Creek Women’s Golf Club, ABC, threesome, one- best ball format tournament with a score of 65.

Finishing in the second spot with a score of 73 was the team of Sandy Fortino, Kay Kurdziel and a blind draw. Taking third was the team of Sheila McMurphy, Yumiko Hankins and a blind draw at 74.

Canyon Oaks CC

Shelly Carney turned in the low round of the day, 87, in the Canyon Oaks Women’s Golf Club “Criss Cross” format tournament, counting only onehalf a player’s handicap.

Linda Alworth shot 4-under her handicap for a 68 to take low net. Game: Joan Wagoner, 26; 2, Alworth, 27; 3, Sue Osterholt, 27.5; 4, Nancy Vieira, 28.5, card- off over Pat Radisich. Closest to pin on No. 14: 1, Nancy Evans; 2, Carney; 3, Alworth.

Bidwell Park C

The Bidwell Park Women’s Golf Club held a medal play, individual low net, low gross for its weekly tournament.

Twenty-three players managed to stick it out for the entire 18 holes, in spite of the rain. Betty Linzy took low gross in the first flight with a score of 86. Low net: 1, Gail Johnson, 73; 2, Gayle Aylward, 74. Second flight low gross: Linda Jones,

94. Low net: 1, Linda Mowell, 72; 2, Barbara Albers 77. Third flight low gross: Jolene Nixon, 113. Low net: Wendy Donahoo, 76.

Spectacula­r shots

Doug Pawledge chalked up his first hole-in- one on the 14th hole at Canyon Oaks. Pawledge used his 6-iron to hit his perfect 148-yard tee shot as witnessed by his playing companion, Dan Bay.

Linda Scarff recorded her fourth career ace while playing in the Butte Creek Women’s Golf Club weekly tournament. Attesting to Scarff’s 105-yard, 6-hybrid tee shot find the bottom of the cup on the 3rd hole was her playing partner, Barbara Joronen.
