Area remains in COVID-19 purple tier

- Staff reports

OROVILLE » Butte County’s regional stay at home order due to the coronavirus pandemic was lifted Tuesday.

According to Butte County Public Health, the Greater Sacramento Region (which includes Butte County) ICU bed capacity four-week projection now exceeds 15%. This means the Regional Stay at Home Order is over as of Tuesday.

The region was placed under the order Dec. 10 as directed for available ICU capacity, for a minimum of 21 days. After the 21- day period, the region’s four-week ICU bed capacity was projected on a regular basis.

With the order lifted, the state’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy’s tier based system is still in place. There are four tiers which determine which businesses and activities may be open based on case rate and test positivity rate.

Butte County is still in the purple tier (widespread or Tier 1), the most restrictive tier, which requires most businesses and activities to modify operations for outdoors only. The case rate and test positivity rate for Butte County are updated on a weekly basis. To learn what can remain open in Tier 1, visit the state’s online guide to Blueprint for a Safer Economy.

The state’s Limited Stay at Home Order is still in effect for all counties in the Purple Tier. This order places a 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew on all individuals in the purple tier, with limited exceptions. It remains in effect until the Regional Stay at Home Order is terminated in all state regions.

The department has asked residents to keep doing all they can to prevent the virus by following these steps:

• Wearing a face covering when in public;

• Keeping at least six feet away from others; • Washing your hands often;

• Not mixing with people who don’t live in your household;

• Staying home if you are sick.
