One rescued after ATV goes down steep terrain

One person who went off the edge of Doe Mill Road in an ATV was later rescued and transporte­d to a hospital for treatment Sunday.

First responders were dispatched to the site of the accident near Stirling City at 4:43 p.m. A Butte County Sheriff’s Office deputy first arrived to find one person approximat­ely 30 feet off the roadway in steep terrain.

Butte County Search and Rescue as well as firefighte­rs with Cal Fire-Butte County then arrived and deployed a rope system to rescue the person, who was then transporte­d via FlightCare to Enloe Medical Center. According to Cal Fire-Butte County, the person sustained moderate injuries.
