The outbreak of COVID-19 has rapidly changed everyday life in Butte County. It is a quick-moving situation in which it is important to stay informed. This is a list of basic informatio­n and resources. It will be updated.

By the numbers (through Friday)

Butte County: 10,731 confirmed cases (increase of 20 from Thursday), 1,643 probable cases with 13 hospitaliz­ed, 160 deaths. Current tier: purple.

Glenn County: 2,181 confirmed cases (increase of 10 from Thursday), 512 probable cases with seven hospitaliz­ed, 23 deaths. Current tier: purple.

Tehama County: 5,086 confirmed cases (increase of five from Thursday) with three hospitaliz­ed, 52 deaths. Current tier: purple.

Vaccinatio­ns

In December 2020, the U. S. Food and Drug Administra­tion issued two emergency use authorizat­ions for a vaccine to prevent COVID-19 in individual­s 16 years of age and older. The EUAs allow the PfizerBioN­Tech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to be distribute­d in the U.S.

Local counties are receiving weekly vaccine allocation­s from the California Department of Public Health and prioritizi­ng vaccinatio­ns to their most vulnerable residents by age and sector, such as health care, essential emergency services and education. Numbers below reflect their progress so far.

Butte County: 53,139 doses administer­ed (23,401.5 per 100,000 residents).

Glenn County: 4,768 doses administer­ed (17,091.4 per 100,000 residents).

Tehama County: 8,018 doses administer­ed (12,652.1 per 100,000 residents).

How do I get tested?

To set up an appointmen­t to get tested by OptumServe at the 900 Mangrove Ave. in Chico, visit https://lhi.care/covidtesti­ng or call 1-888-634-1123. No payment is necessary; your insurance will be billed or, if you have no insurance, the cost is picked up by the state.

In addition to the Chico location, Glenn County has an OptumServe site at Orland Memorial Hall, located at 320 Third St.

Coronaviru­s testing also available at Immediate Care in Chico, 376 Vallombros­a Ave., 891-1676; and also at all Ampla locations. The number in Chico is 3424395 and the number in Oroville is 534-7500.
