-

Jeremy “Coach” Walker passed peacefully at home with his wife and family by his side on March 5, 2021. Born on October 12, 1963 in Great Falls MT, he graduated from Pittsburg High School, CA in 1982. Jeremy is survived by his beloved wife, Amparo Avila-Walker, their cherished children, Jason, Selena, Joel, Vincent and Jeremy-Michael, grandchildren, Elias and Bruce, parents Jaime and Catalina Walker, of Pittsburg, CA and siblings Mario, Jerome, Dan, James and Sonia. He is preceded in death by brother Christopher. In addition to his immediate family, Jeremy leaves behind an incredible extended family and many friendships, especially a brotherhood of coaches he felt privileged to be a part of. Jeremy proudly served in the Air Force from 1982 - 1995 where he retired from Air Combat Command at Beale Air Force Base. Jeremy and his family moved to Chico, CA where he continued his commitment to public service, working for the State of California for 23 years. While living in Chico, Jeremy volunteered his time coaching youth football with the Chico Jaguars for 20 seasons. Coach Jeremy was a role model for everything good and passionate in coaching, mentoring and competing. He coached his own sons, and co-coached Jaguar Midgets with son, Jason, passing on his love for coaching to him. As coach to countless youth in the community he was an effective mentor teaching them how to be a good sport and keeping a positive outlook, even when the odds were stacked against the team. While his departure was far too soon, we are certain he will make his spiritual appearance at Chico Jaguar games and family gatherings. Jeremy will be remembered as such: No greater love, than love itself. Jeremy was love. He was all about the laughter combined with the willingness to be that friend. He didn’t see race, religion, or gender... he only saw another human to love. His departing words “Keep it fun. Keep it positive.” epitomizes how he lived and loved life. “Jeremy, Dad, SSgt Walker, Tio Jeremy, Coach, Grandpa” we love you tremendously and will keep you close to our hearts!” A private funeral will be held at Our Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Sacramento, CA, with USAF Honor Guard present. Jeremy’s Facebook account will remain open for condolence to family and sharing of memories.
