Biggs gets lopsided win over Maxwell

The Biggs High football team routed Maxwell 61-12 Thursday night to remain undefeated on the season.

Shavon Gramps- Green led the Wolverines by scoring five touchdowns on 12 carries for 136 yards.

Parker Finley scored three times with a rushing touchdown, a receiving touchdown and a kickoff return to the endzone. Finley finished the game with nine carries for 80 yards.

Gregg Slusser recorded two touchdowns and had an intercepti­on on defense.

Biggs (3- 0) will have a rematch with Hamilton at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Prep girls soccer

Chico 3, Corning 0: The Chico High girls soccer team beat Corning on the road to open its season Thursday.

Lily Price-Peck scored the first goal of the season for the Panthers on an assist by Karina Diaz. Taylor Dever crossed the ball to the head of Diaz, who passed it to Price-Peck for the goal. Olivia Wilson scored the second goal for Chico on an assist by Alyssa Bloxham before Mylee Yuill added a third goal for the Panthers near the end of the game.

Heather Lockard and Kiana Boyd split the game as goalkeeper­s for Chico High, with neither recording a save. Chico High (1- 0) plays next on April 21 at home against Pleasant Valley.

LAS PLUMAS 4, ORLAND 0 >> The Trojans (1-1) lost at home Thursday. Orland defender Samantha Lopez and midfielder Yuri Camarena played well for the Trojans.

No stats were provided by Las Plumas (1- 0-1).

Prep field hockey

CHICO 2, CORNING 0 >> Chico High beat Corning at home on Thursday.

Eden Dowell and Gianna Rossini each scored one goal for the Panthers, with Candice Wainschel assisting on both goals. Sophia Pennisi recorded a defensive save, while Natalie Larrance-Potkin recorded five saves in goal for the Panthers (7- 0) in the shutout victory.

Chico High plays next at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Lassen.
