Church pairs with Tiny Pine Foundation for grant
OROVILLE >> First Congregational Church of Oroville has announced a special grant that has been conferred by the Northern California- Nevada Conference of the United Church of Christ Disaster Relief team to the Tiny Pine Foundation, based out of Oroville.
The grant is for $24,000 to provide for three new homes for fire surviving families in the Oroville area. Two individuals on the disaster relief team are survivors of the 2018 Camp Fire including Pastor Andrew McHenry of First Congregational Church as well as Pastor Daniel Wysong of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Woodland.
“We have some different perspectives in the group, but we all were able to come together on this one. We’re eager to help people out, and the Tiny Pine Foundation is a really solid organization with some excellent support in the community,” McHenry said in a press release.
The donation was facilitated in part by Tony Pine Foundation President and Founder Alyssa Nolan- Cain.
This grant follows First Congregational Church’s separate effort to provide a single home for a family from Concow. The church held the fundraising effort over the course of several months with an original goal of $5,500 to $7,000. On Tuesday it was announced that the $7,000 goal had been reached with the help of donations from church members and other supporters.
