Oroville football gets a win

PV field hockey finishes with 10 straight victories

The Oroville High football team earned its first win of the season by edging Wheatland 4036 Thursday night on the road.

The Tigers led 26-22 at halftime until the host Pirates took the lead in the third quarter 27-22.

Oroville then outscored the Wheatland 14-7 to capture the win. No other stats were provided. Oroville (1-1) hosts Sutter at 7:30 p.m. on April 9.

BIGGS 47, HAMILTON 7 >> The Wolverines defeated Hamilton Thursday night at home.

Shavon Gramps-Green had eight carries for 163 yards and four rushing touchdowns. Gramps- Green also had a 69-yard touchdown catch and recorded 10 tackles.

Parker Finley had 11 carries for 115 yards and two rushing touchdowns and had two sacks and a forced fumble on defense.

Quarterbac­k Gregg Slusser finished with a 69-yard touchdown pass. On defense, Cody Roles had nine tackles.

Biggs (4- 0) hosts Williams at 7:30 p.m. April 9.

Prep field hockey

PLEASANT VALLEY 3, CHICO 1 >> The Vikings avenged their openingsea­son loss against crosstown rival Chico with a win Thursday night.

Senior Zoe Nunez-Bauer led PV with two goals and an assist. Kendall Graytok added one goal

and two assists. PV ended the season on a 10-game win streak to finish the year 10-1.

Prep volleyball

PLEASANT VALLEY 3, PIERCE

1 >> The Vikings won their season opener 19-25, 25-20, 25-26 and 25-23 Thursday night at home.

Kylie Matthews and Emma Daughtery led PV with 11 kills and four aces apiece.

PV (1-0) plays at Pierce on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

HAMILTON 3, PRINCETON 0 >> The Braves swept host Princeton 25-13, 25-11, 2515 to stay undefeated.

Maddy Pankratz led the Braves with 10 kills while Annie Belter chipped in nine kills. Erika Sanchez, Pankratz and Rylee Engel each tallied four aces. Engel also collected 19 assists.

Hamilton (4- 0) plays at Paradise at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Prep girls soccer

ORLAND 7, GRIDLEY 0 >>

Franchesca Martins scored three goals, Laramie Burks scored two and Araceli Molinero and Clarissa Garcia scored one for Orland on the road.

Gridley coach Mark Canfield credited seniors Jazlyn Gutierrez, Ana Velasco, Elesia Fuentes and Maria Cardenas on senior night.

Orland (2-1) hosts Corning on Tuesday. Gridley (04) plays at Lindhurst on Wednesday.
